NI moves past 30,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19 as five additional deaths recorded in last 24 hours

In the 24 hours to 10.00am on October 22, 2020 five additional Covid-19 related deaths were recorded in Northern Ireland, according to the Department of Health Covid-19 dashboard.
Four of the deaths occurred in the last 24 hours and the one remaining death occurred outside this time frame but was recorded for the first time.
Northern Ireland’s death-toll now stands at 634.

An additional 1,042 infections were also detected in the last 24 hours.
The latest number of daily infections means the total number of people to test positive for Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 31,034 - of these positive cases, 6,753 were confirmed as having Covid-19 in the last seven days; this equates to 22 per cent of all infections since the beginning of the pandemic.
There are now 291 inpatients with Covid-19 in Northern Ireland.
There has also been an increase in the number of available intensive care unit (ICU) beds - there are currently 30 beds available across Northern Ireland.
There are 33 patients in ICU beds in Northern Ireland and there are 23 Covid-19 patients on ventilators.
